Along with the joys of fatherhood, the last few years have been filled with the joys of travel. This has become quite the expensive habit for me but has been filled with some great experiences! Whether it was seeing the "painted hills of colorful sheep" in Ireland, or taking in the entire NYC experience...or the first trip to Texas Stadium, followed by another great trip in 2007 with friends and family...a trip to see the Cowboys play in Arizona and taking Annie to her first Cowboys game in Denver this season)....or the heat of Hawaii and Mexico...or Seattle, Canada and the Alaskan cruise with my dad for his 50th birthday...or taking my first "brothers trip" with Jon to DisneyWorld this last May...my first "brothers-in-law trip" with Mike to Las Vegas to see Aerosmith...or the huge family trip to San Diego in September...or getting to spend time with long-time friends for Josh's wedding in St Louis in October. Throw in a few other little trips like seeing the Utes in the Fiesta Bowl, a few trips to Vegas and Disneyland, Bear Lake, and taking Kenzie to see "Elmo Makes Music" in Idaho last year and I think you get the point...I need a break from my habit...and so does my half-melted Amex card! :)
So what about the rest of life? Anyone close to me knows that the 20's have been quite the roller coaster...to the point that when I turned 29 I came up with 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30...mostly to just focus on the moment and leave this decade of life with a bang! How has it gone? Well I have added a few things to the list, but I am no where near achieving the 30 things I thought I would. I look at a few of them now and think I must have been in a "wreckless abandon" state of mind when I came up with them! Even if I don't get through the list, I am definitely in a happier place in life right now...I would like to say it was because things are more stable...but that just isn't the case...I am in the middle of some changes...with some bigger ones ahead...and although I am sure I will write about memories here and there as they come up and I want to make sure they are in a more secure place than my "lack of memory"...I think the next steps of this journey will have a lot to write about...
